Vote for Paula Cogan and BOUNCER - Call 0844 646 02 01*
Paula was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at nine months old so taking medicine and completing daily treatments became a normal way of life for her.
Her family was offered a six-month-old puppy who was the last one in the litter. Paula believed that he was the last one left for a reason he was waiting for her to arrive and take him home, so they would be able to look after one another.
As Paulas condition grew worse, she was spending two or three weeks in hospital every couple of months. During this time, she missed Bouncer so much it was hard to be away from him for so long! Her mum would bring him to the hospital in the car and she was allowed to spend a few hours with him in the park across the road.
In March 2009 the call came from Great Ormond Street. After having been on the transplant list for five months, Paula was finally going to receive her new lung. She spent 10 weeks in hospital, but for about five of these she was unable to see Bouncer.
She is now slowly beginning to regain her health and has started to teach him agility.
